I'm truly delighted to report that The Chicago Farmers has a social media component for the Farmland Investment Fair. Of course, my posting the news release on my blog is a modest part of it, but the real news is that Jeff Korhan is coming to speak on using social media http://www.truenature.com/. See the news release below.
As readers of the blog know, I am a huge fan of The Long Tail, and I think it and social media are more applicable to agriculture than many other industries. Ag folk are spread out so they need to seek each other out to find and share information--not to mention networking. And, as Truffle Media and Chuck Zimmerman both know so well, it's a crowd made for podcasting in some key ways
Social media as Jeff will explain is also one of the strategies that can be launched without a huge budget. Case in point, Jeff Martin, the event Chair, just posted his first youtubevideo on the Fair. If you go to youtube, use the search terms chicago farmers and it should come up. Just imagine trying to do a fast tv shot to promote an event before social media and the web caught on. As my friend and author Maggie Callaway would observers, "scenarios are only impossible until they are not."
